There’s nothing more exciting than the NFL playoffs. This year is especially intriguing with the usual suspects Brady, Manning, and Rodgers, to go with the up and comers Dalton, Luck, RGIII, Russell Wilson, and Kaepernick. With that said, here are Lucas’s Saturday Wild Card picks:
Houston (-4) over Cincinnati:
The Texans once again backed into the playoffs after losing three of their final 4 games and are set to face Andy Dalton and the Bengals in a rematch of last year’s Wild Card game. However, this year Matt Schaub is healthy going into the playoffs. Even though they have been struggling of late, I like JJ Watt and Andre Johnson to make the big, game deciding plays in this one.
The Pick: Texans 31 Bengals 23
Packers (-9) over Vikings:
A rematch of Week 17 where Adrain Peterson carried Minnesota to the victory. I expect this game to be another nail biter with Aaron Rodgers getting the last laugh. Rodgers has struggled at home in the playoffs, but I don’t believe Peterson will be able to single handedly do it again this week. I don’t trust Christian Ponder to make the big play.
The Pick: Packers 27 Vikings 17
Baltimore (-7) over Colts
The Colts are in the midst of the biggest turn around in NFL History. They changed everything about the organization and are in the playoffs. The Ravens on the other hand, are welcoming back their leader Ray Lewis who doesn’t want this to be his final game. He will inspire his troops like never before. I believe Luck turns the ball over and Ray Rice has a big day.
The Pick: Ravens 24 Colts 17
Washington (+3) over Seattle
The most intriguing matchup this weekend. Two rookie quarterbacks RGIII and Russell Wilson squaring off in D.C. Seattle is not nearly the same team on the road as they are at home. If Seattle had home field, they probably run the table, but they don’t. I like RGIII and Washington to come out on top.
The Pick: Redskins 27 Seahawks 20
