There’s no debate that Wild Card week was a major disappointment. There were few, if any exciting moments. The good news is that the Divisional round can’t be worse. Here are my picks:
Broncos (-9) over Ravens: Peyton Manning owns the Baltimore Ravens. He’s won his last 9 against them, and he’s going for his 10th today. The Broncos blew out the Ravens 33-14 in week 15 at Baltimore, and I see a similar result happening today. I don’t think Joe Flacco will be able to keep up with Peyton who can score at will. The Ravens only chance is if that defense can force a few turnovers, Ray Rice takes over, and Flacco has a big day. Give me Denver.
Broncos 24 Ravens 13
Green Bay (+3) over 49ers: Tonight is the biggest game for Colin Kaepernick, Jim Harbaugh, and the rest of the 49ers. If San Francisco loses, the decision to turn to Kaepernick over Alex Smith will be a mistake and may cost Harbaugh his job. If you remember, it was Smith who led the 49ers to a Week 1 30-22 win over the Packers. I think Green Bay has a ton of momentum after seeing what they did to Minnesota last week and they carry that into tonight. I believe tonight is the night the pressure finally gets to Kaepernick and Green Bay moves on to the NFC title game.
Packers 27 49ers 23
Seahawks (+2.5) over Falcons: Matt Ryan has yet to win a playoff game in his career. I just think Seattle is the last team you want to face right now. They are clicking on all cylinders. Russell Wilson looks like a 10-year vet, Marshawn Lynch is a beast, and that defense is one of the best in the league. I see Seattle winning all the physical battles setting the stage for a rematch of the game that brought back the real refs.
Seahawks 28 Falcons 13
Texans (+9.5) over Patriots: No one is giving the Texans much of a chance in this one, just like no one gave the 2010 Jets a chance to go into Foxborough and win. The Patriots destroyed the Texans 42-14 in Week 14 in a laugher on Monday Night Football. This is just too reminiscent of 2010. I think JJ Watt harrasses Tom Brady all day and New England has an off game. I like the Texans.
