Just when you thought things could not get any worse for the New York Knicks, they do.
A few hours after Dirk Nowitzki spoiled a 44-point effort from Carmelo Anthony with an absurd buzzer beating shot, Knicks point guard Raymond Felton was arrested on 3 counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Felton was later charged with second and third-degree possession of a firearm, and a misdemeanor charge.
Ariane Raymondo-Felton, who recently filed for divorce from her husband Raymond, brought a Belgian-made pistol that allegedly belonged to Raymond to the 20th Precinct on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Raymond then turned himself in before being arrested.
According to reports, Raymondo-Felton asked Raymond to take the gun out of her house, but he refused.
New York City is known for having strict gun laws. All you have to do is think back to Giants receiver Plaxico Burress who served 21 months in prison for shooting himself in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub in 2008.
It’s been a rough season for Felton who was brought in to replace Jeremy Lin as the teams primary point guard.
Felton’s future status with the Knicks is unknown, and he is expected to be arraigned later today in Manhattan Criminal Court.
