Chris Bosh to Return to Heat

11 Jul

On a day the Miami Heat lost LeBron James, it appears Chris Bosh will be sticking around.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Chris Bosh and the Heat are finalizing an agreement on a 5-year $118 million dollar contract. Wojnarowski is also reporting the Heat are pushing to keep Dwyane Wade.

When it looked like the Miami Heat were about to go through a massive rebuilding phase, the tides quickly turned.

All reports indicated that Bosh would join Dwight Howard in Houston after LeBron announced he was going back to Cleveland. Instead, it’s looking like the Heat will continue to build around Bosh, Wade, and Shabazz Napier.

Bosh will make approximately $30 million dollars more now that he’s staying with Miami than he would have made with Houston.

Last season with Miami, Bosh averaged 16.2 points, and 6.6 rebounds per game. Expect Bosh to play a major role in the Heat’s offense going forward after deferring to James the past 4 seasons.

He hasn’t averaged more than 20 points in a season since joining James in Miami in 2010.
