He had one of the most distinguished careers in college football history, for both good and bad reasons.
In his very first season at Florida State, Winston went 14-0, winning both the National Championship and Heisman Trophy. He threw for 40 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions, 4,057 yards, and accumulated a 184.4 passer rating.
This past season just culminated with Winston nearly winning another national title, before his Seminoles fell flat losing by 39 to Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
His numbers declined significantly with Winston throwing 15 fewer touchdowns, and eight more interceptions. All in all, Winston went 26-1 in his two years at Florida State.
Off the field, it was a much different story. There was a rape allegation, stealing crab legs from a local grocery store, and yelling explicit phrases on campus that resulted in a one-game suspension.
The biggest questions as Winston enters the NFL are his maturity off the field, and whether or not he can be the face of an NFL franchise based on his off the field issues.
We will find out soon enough.
